Past: From Old Stories to Freedom

Rewrite Your Story, Anchor Your Roots

You May Have Arrived Here Because:

Perhaps you’re:

  • Finding memories or past experiences still affect you more than others understand
  • Tired of being told to “just move on” or “let it go”
  • Feeling stuck despite trying various coping strategies
  • Noticing how past relationships or experiences shape your present reactions
  • Looking for someone who’ll understand your story, including your cultural background
  • Wanting support that goes beyond just managing symptoms or following textbook solutions

The Weight of the Past

Maybe you’ve been:

  • Carrying stories that feel too heavy to speak aloud
  • Finding yourself guarding your heart, even with those closest to you
  • Keeping experiences private because “no one would understand”
  • Feeling misunderstood or dismissed when you’ve tried to open up
  • Noticing strong reactions to situations that remind you of the past

Here’s what I need you to know: Your responses make perfect sense in the context of your whole story. They might be:

  • Ways you learned to protect yourself
  • Your body and mind doing their best to keep you safe
  • Responses shaped by experiences that others may not understand
  • Signals about what matters deeply to you
  • Part of larger patterns in your family, culture, or community

If you’ve ever felt dismissed, invalidated, or even harmed by the mental health system, you’re not alone. Today, these experiences shape my work profoundly.

Walking Beside You

I believe ‘healing’ becomes possible when we create space for your whole story. Together, we’ll:

  • Build a space where you feel safe to share at your own pace
  • Make sense of your responses to past experiences
  • Learn ways to feel steady when unpleasant memories surface
  • Listen to your body’s wisdom —the voice within that knows what feels right.
  • Find new ways to carry your story
  • Create meaningful connections that feel secure
  • Build on the strength you already have

What Drives Me: My Personal Story

At 18, I sought help after seven sleepless nights, hoping for relief. Instead, I was misdiagnosed with “schizophrenia” and placed on two years of unnecessary ‘treatment’. Later, this diagnosis was revised to “stress-related breakdown” and eventually to “no mental illness.” If you’ve ever felt misunderstood or dismissed while seeking help, you’re not alone—I know how isolating and disheartening it can feel.

This experience taught me that ‘healing’ begins when we’re truly seen and understood—not reduced to labels or symptoms. Through subsequent research, I discovered that many psychiatric diagnoses aren’t based on solid science but are created through committee decisions. This realization was life-changing: while all human experiences have biological aspects, not all suffering is a medical illness. People are not simply patients with illnesses but individuals experiencing problems that are understandable within our unique contexts. While the diagnostic mindset can be helpful for accessing certain benefits in a system underpinned by the biomedical model of distress, it often limits the richness of human experience and reduces people to their ‘symptoms’, which are actually problems in thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

These lessons now guide my work. I am committed to prevent harm and optimise your experiences of benefit. Together, we create spaces where your full story is honored, your struggles are understood, and your path forward feels authentic to you.

Finding Your Way Through

Whether you’re dealing with:

  • Experiences that still feel raw and present
  • Trust that’s been shaken or broken by past events
  • Patterns in relationships that keep repeating
  • Impacts of system-related or institutional experiences
  • Grief and profound loss that changed everything
  • Early life experiences that still shape your present
  • Cultural or systemic challenges others might not understand

Remember: Your story deserves to be heard and understood in its entirety – every chapter matters here.
