At 18, I walked into Singapore’s psychiatric hospital seeking help with sleep after seven sleepless nights. One misunderstood question changed everything.
“Do you hear voices?” they asked.
In my distressed state and thinking of my teacher’s harsh words replaying in my thoughts, I said “yes.” That single answer led to a “schizophrenia” diagnosis, hospitalization, two years of antipsychotic medication and more.
The irony? I got the sleep I needed after just two nights. Years later, my records would show “no mental illness” – same story, different interpretations.
This experience showed me how easily our voices can be silenced by the very systems meant to help us.
That’s why I created Therapy Without Boxes – a space where your complete story matters, not just the parts that fit predetermined boxes. Because true healing happens when you’re supported in writing your own story and living your truth.
Ever felt like therapy was trying to fit your unique story into boxes?

I was hesitant about going back to therapy – not because of bad experiences, but because I felt stuck repeating the same insights over and over without real change. I’d spent years in therapy understanding my patterns, but still struggled to feel different.
Working with Roxanne was like discovering a new path. She showed me how to tune into my body’s wisdom in a way that went beyond just understanding my thoughts and feelings. The changes were subtle at first, but profound – I found myself naturally responding differently to old triggers, rather than just knowing I ‘should’ respond differently.
Now I have a way of being with myself that feels real and sustainable, not just another technique to practice.
I came to therapy feeling skeptical after seeing a few highly experienced therapists who still left me feeling misunderstood. But from our first session with Roxanne, something was different. She has this gift for hearing not just your words, but the story beneath them. Sometimes she’d reflect back what I shared in ways that helped me discover things about myself I’d never seen before. What makes her stand out isn’t her credentials or years of experience – it’s her ability to create a space where you feel truly heard and supported in finding your own way forward.
The understanding I found in Roxanne’s sessions continues to guide me months later. I came in wondering if therapy would actually make a lasting difference. Previous attempts had given me temporary insights that faded once I left the therapist’s office.
What makes Roxanne different is how she helps me connect with my own inner knowing. There’s something special about how she holds space – gentle and real, allowing things to unfold naturally. Working with her hasn’t just helped me through current challenges; it’s given me a way of being with myself that feels authentic and true.
After being reduced to psychiatric labels and pushed into treatments that didn’t feel right, I was deeply skeptical of reaching out for help again. But there was something different about Roxanne’s approach – she talked about breaking free from boxes, not fitting into them.
From our first session, I felt truly heard. She created a space where I could just be myself, without judgment or pressure to ‘get better’ on someone else’s timeline. Four sessions in, I’ve experienced more genuine growth than in years of traditional therapy. Now I’m discovering my own inner wisdom rather than trying to follow someone else’s formula for healing.
I used to be stuck in constant analysis, thinking if I just figured everything out logically, I’d feel better. But all that thinking left me feeling more disconnected from myself. Through working with Roxanne, I discovered a completely different way of finding clarity.
She introduced me to a gentle way of tuning into my body’s wisdom. Instead of trying to solve everything with my mind, I learned to notice the subtle signals my body was giving me. Now when I’m stressed or facing difficult decisions, I have a reliable way to access deeper insight rather than just spinning in mental circles.
